How to Add a Discount to a Group of Items

BingoMeNow!!™ powered by Airmenu allows bingo managers to create an incremental discount promotion that will be instantly applied to a customer’s shopping cart.

This discount can either be applied to the full cart or just the price of a set of items, such as Flash, Safari or Pull-tab games.

Also the discount can be either a percentage of what’s in the cart, a percentage of what’s within a particular group of items (grouped within a family) or an actual monetary value.

How to Add a Percentage Discount

Step #1 – Create the Discount Item

Click the “+” button to the lower right portion of the menu screen to open the New Item pane and create a new Complex Item.

Create a new Complex Item

Once the item is created, give it a name and click the gear icon to access the item options pane, then tick the advanced checkbox to view the advanced settings.

Check the Advanced checkbox.

Within the Advanced Options Pane, make these changes:

Price Calculation

Set to partialOrderLargerThanMul

Schedule / Price

Set the Price column (the second) to the amount that should be surpassed in order for the discount to be applied. If set to zero the discount will always be applied.

Automatic

Set to Yes, group and choose at the end

Step #2 – Define a Discount Amount

Now click the newly created Complex Item to open it as if it were a Family/Folder. And then create a new item. Name it Discount Amount.

You’ll notice the price is set in % instead of a currency. Click the gear icon to that new item to adjust the percentage of the discount, in decimals.

Adjust the percentage of the discount that will be applied.

Additionally, it is possible to control how this automated discount item will be given to customers. Please review this other article to learn how to offer the discount only once per session/user or per session/seat/user combination.

Very Important!

Automatic items work according to where they are placed in the menu structure. If you imagine your menu structure as an upside-down tree of items and sub-items, you’ll get something like the diagram below:

And example of how the menu structure works.

In the example above, the user will get the Automatic Item #1 as soon as he/she adds any item from the menu on the shopping cart.

Automatic Item #2 will only be added if an item from the Family is in the shopping cart.

Bear in mind this can drastically change the behaviour of your discount items.
